About

One of the first chapters formed, SMGA-NY has supported post 9-11 wounded warriors living in Northern New York since 2011. This includes soldiers assigned to the 10th Mtn Div. as well as all National Guard and Reserve Soldiers from the N.E region who are recieving medical treatment at Ft Drum prior to being medically discharged for wounds & injuries sustained while on active duty.

In 2015, rehabilitative golf programs are offered year round and include: Instructional clinic series; playing opportunities across Northern New York with access to indoor facilities during the winter months; and individual golf fitness programs year round.

Instructional clinics are open to post 9-11 wounded warriors and a loved one. Clinics are 8 consecutive weeks and are held in May-Jun & Jul-Aug at St Lawrence Univ. Golf Course and Partridge Run Golf and Country Club in Canton, NY. All instructors are PGA or LPGA professionals.

Individual golf fitness programs are developed by certified golf fitness professionals and include golf movement screenings. Flexor Sports Training Methods, TPI exercises and yoga poses are used to improve a warrior’s mobility, stability, balance and rotational power. The program has been especially beneficial for those with PTSD and TBI. If you are interested in participating, donating or volunteering in support of SMGA-NY please see contact information below.
